CHARLIE & IVY'S + COUNTRY HUTS ON THE WOLDS
We recently had the pleasure of discovering this relaxing, rural escape on the Yorkshire Wolds. Less than 2 miles from Charlie & Ivy’s HQ, nestled into the edge of Thixendale village, Country Huts on the Wolds was our absolute dream location for our summer shoot.
Our first location shoot, it seemed only right to collaborate with a fellow artisan business. Country Huts may be in travel & hospitality, but artisan is still very much the word. The two luxury shepherds’ huts sit on the edge of the village with a full view of the cricket fields, those visiting in the Summer months may even be lucky enough to catch a game or two! Beyond the cricket pitch is a view the Yorkshire Wolds are famous for, rolling dale sides with sheep grazing. The Wolds Way path runs right along our farmland and the huts, a nationally famous route, perfect for any keen walker.
The aptly named ‘Wool’ and ‘Wicket’ Huts are built from reclaimed mill timbers - the exterior from a flour mill in Chester, the interior from a bonded warehouse in Newcastle and the floorboards from Goosehill School in Morpeth. They sit on hand-forged steel chassis and wheels, and are insulated with sheep’s wool and double glazed. Guests enjoy the roar and warmth of the wood burner in cooler months, but for us on a lovely early summer day, we enjoyed having the doors wide open and soaked in the view.
So, to our shoot! We wanted to use the day to capture shots to inspire, and with a location like this it wasn’t hard. Setting up the decking to demonstrate how a simple platter could make a luxurious lunch, picnicking by the cricket pitch to our very own jubilee party! Maybe you’ve spotted our photos on our socials?
We had a fantastic day - all to ourselves, making the most of the rustic hut interiors and relaxed, informal exterior settings. And of course, all with a fantastic view! The Charlie & Ivy’s ethos is all about simple pleasures. Great food, good friends and the opportunity to enjoy some alfresco dining. This venue certainly gave us the unique opportunity to express those values.
