Eco Friendly Wrapping Inspiration for Christmas
Christmas is filled with wonderful things, family, friends, food and cheer! It’s the time of year we come together, celebrate, and exchange gifts and enjoy a tipple of two!
We spend so long considering what we’re going to give our loved ones, but then sometimes get stuck on how to present our well-chosen gifts. The shops are filled with bows and sparkles, frills and patterns galore, but for me it’s simplicity that is so magical. Wrapping also doesn’t have to be plastic fueled and destined for landfill.
It’s the time of year that hoarding pays off. Rolls of ribbons, cinnamon sticks, old books, newspapers. It’s amazing what you can find to adorn your gifts without needing to hit the shops.
This year we’re sharing our top tips for creating beautifully wrapped eco-friendly gifts you’ll be proud to show off under the tree this festive season.
RAID THE GARDEN
We’re all for foraging, and you generally don’t need to look too far to find some simple greens to adorn your parcel. Wrap up your gifts in brown paper and finish with sprigs of herbs, ferns, ivy or berries. You’ll soon create a real festive treat.
MAGICAL MUSIC
Old sheet music is easy to pick up at charity shops and thrift markets and is a beautiful way to add decoration to your gifts. Simply wrap in in brown paper and use strips of sheet music to decorate. Add left over ribbons, or maybe make some origami stars (you can find loads of tutorials online following a quick google!)
GO PAPERLESS
Furoshiki wraps are widely available these days and are 100% re-usable. We love these stunning British designed wraps from indie business Kindly Yarn, their festive designs are so simple to use, and re-use time and time again!
YESTERDAY’S NEWS
As the saying goes, if you can’t beat them, join them! Light the fire, light some candles and grab a blanket or two. Make a cuppa, find a spot to chill and take the time to slow down and read a good book. More of a playlist kind of person? Head over to Spotify, there’s a whole host of fantastically chilled out playlists to help your hibernation.
It turns out yesterday’s news can be just what you’re looking for! Keep you’re eyes peeled for colorful spreads and use them to wrap up your treasures. Finish off with some brown string and a posey of greenery. The ultimate eco wrap!
