How to Host a New Year's Eve Party with a Difference

Glasses clinking over a grazing platter

What could be better than seeing in the New Year with friends and family whilst sharing some fabulous food and drink!? Hosting a dinner party is a great way to get people together but adding a few extras is a great way to make your evening truly unforgettable.

Sharing is caring

Instead of plating up individual starters why not serve your first course as sharing boards. As well as looking magnificent, sharing boards are a great way to get the conversation flowing between your guests as they pass the platters around.

Delight your guests with a carefully curated selection of charcuterie, cheeses, fruits, olives, artisan bread and dipping oils for the ultimate sharing experience.

Shake things up

Adding cocktails or mocktails to your evening is great way to add some fun, flavour and flair. Cocktails make a great welcome drink or why not match a cocktail to each course.

If you like the idea of getting your guests involved then why not hold a cocktail making competition. Split your guests into teams and ask them to mix their very own unique blend of spirits and flavours and of course they will need to think of a name for their creation too.

Let all the guests sample the cocktails and vote for the winner.

King or Queen of Puddings

Let your guests lighten the load and ask them to each bring a dessert. You can then serve the final course as a pudding buffet table, beautifully decorated and with a wide variety of desserts on offer. Delicious and decadent.

To add to the fun why not get your guests to vote for their favourite with the winner being crowned the king or queen of puddings.

Fun and games

Adding some fun and games to the evening is a great way to make your dinner party an event that your guests will never forget.

One of our favourite dinner party games is A Little More Conversation. This clever little card game is packed full of questions and topics to get the conversation flowing.

While it might sound like a training course icebreaker we can assure you it’s much more fun and the cleverly curated questions will spark joy, laughter and unexpected stories among your guests.

All these little additions can realty help make your dinner party one to remember, but one of the most important things to make your dinner party go with out hitch is to relax.

So get your prep done in advance, pour yourself a drink and enjoy spending time with your guests.
